Hello everyone, and welcome back to the White Internet blog. Following our launch earlier this week, I’ve received a few emails asking about the little guy in the corner of our site. No, we aren’t a wildlife foundation, that panda is our mascot, and his history goes back long before I ever wrote my first line of professional PHP.
The story actually begins in the laboratories and lecture halls of my university days. Interestingly enough, I didn’t start out in Computer Science; I was a Mechanical Engineering student.
As anyone who has survived an Engineering degree can tell you, the workload is relentless. Between fluid mechanics, structural analysis, and countless hours in the workshop, sleep became a rare luxury. My classmates started to notice that after a particularly grueling session in the lab or a 48-hour stretch finishing a design project, I’d emerge with dark circles under my eyes that would make a bear jealous.
Because of those “eyes” and my habit of practically living in the lab, my friends dubbed me “The Panda.” You might wonder why a Mechanical Engineer is now running a web development firm. The truth is, the two fields aren’t as different as they seem. Engineering taught me the importance of structural integrity, precision, and the “form follows function” philosophy. Whether you are designing a physical machine or a website architecture using HTML 4.01 and CSS, the goal is the same: to build something that is robust, efficient, and capable of handling the load.
When I transitioned into software engineering and eventually founded White Internet, I knew the Panda had to come with me. He represents the “engineering DNA” of this company:
- Precision: Like a well-oiled machine, our code is built to be clean and reliable.
- Endurance: Just as I stayed up late to finish those engineering schematics, we are dedicated to going the extra mile for our clients.
- Approachability: The web can feel cold and technical. Our mascot reminds us to keep things friendly and human-centric.
So, when you see our mascot, know that he stands for the hard work and engineering discipline that goes into every pixel we place and every database query we optimize.
Whether you’re browsing on Internet Explorer 6 or the latest version of Firefox, we’re glad you’re here to see what the Panda can do for your business.
