A Free Technology Consultation gives you the opportunity to talk directly with me about a technology problem, concern, decision or opportunity affecting your business. You do not need to know which consulting service you need or have the technical answers. Tell me what is happening, why it concerns you and what you are trying to achieve, and we can work out whether I can help.

What Can We Discuss?

You do not need to arrive with a neatly defined technology problem.

You may know something is not working as it should but not know why.

You might be facing an important technology decision and want an independent perspective before committing time or money.

Or you may simply want to understand whether something you are concerned about is actually a problem.

We could discuss issues such as:

  • A software project that is late or struggling
  • Concerns about a development team or technology supplier
  • Technology costs that are difficult to understand or control
  • Dependence on a particular developer, supplier or key person
  • Technology strategy and priorities
  • A significant technology investment or decision
  • Technology leadership or Fractional CTO requirements
  • An independent technology review
  • Technology due diligence
  • AI opportunities or concerns from a business perspective

You do not need to diagnose the problem before talking to me.

That is part of the reason for having the conversation.

You Don’t Need To Know Which Service You Need

You might have arrived at this page after reading about Fractional CTO services, Technology Strategy, Project Delivery, Technology Due Diligence, Technology Leadership or one of my independent Technology Reviews.

You do not need to decide which one applies before booking.

Tell me what is happening.

I will ask questions to understand the situation, why it matters to the business and what you are trying to achieve.

From there, I can help determine whether there is something I can help with and what a sensible next step might be.

Sometimes that may lead to a consulting engagement.

Sometimes the most useful outcome may simply be greater clarity about what you should investigate or do next.

What To Expect From The Conversation

This is an initial business conversation, not a technical interrogation or a high-pressure sales call.

I will want to understand things such as:

  • What is happening
  • Why it matters to the business
  • What concerns you
  • What has already been tried, where relevant
  • What outcome you are trying to achieve

You do not need to prepare a technical presentation or understand all the terminology.

Where appropriate, I may be able to offer an initial perspective or identify questions that need answering.

Complex technology problems generally cannot be properly diagnosed during an initial conversation, so I will not pretend otherwise.

If I believe I can help, I will explain what I think an appropriate next step would be.

There is no obligation to proceed with a paid engagement.

Independent Technology Advice

I am an independent Technology Consultant and Fractional CTO.

I do not sell software licences, development teams, MSP contracts, cloud platforms or particular technology products.

That means I can start our conversation with a much more useful question:

What does your business actually need?

My objective is to help you make a better technology decision, not steer you towards something else I am trying to sell.

Who Will You Be Speaking With?

You will speak directly with me, Iain White.

I am an independent Technology Consultant, Fractional CTO and founder of White Internet Consulting, with more than 35 years of experience in technology.

My career has taken me from hands-on software development through architecture, software and engineering management, project delivery and technology management to CTO and senior technology leadership.

That experience means I can understand the technical side of a problem while keeping the conversation focused on what it means for your business. You do not need to translate everything into technical language before speaking with me. Tell me what is happening, what concerns you and what you are trying to achieve.

My approach is based on a simple principle:

People before technology.

That means understanding the people, business problem and desired outcome before deciding what technology should be involved.

I am not there to sell you a particular product or solution. The first conversation is about understanding your situation, asking the right questions and working out whether I can genuinely help.

Free Technology Consultation FAQs

Is The Technology Consultation Really Free?

Yes. The initial technology consultation is free, and there is no obligation to engage me afterwards.
The purpose is to understand what is happening, determine whether I am the right person to help and identify a sensible next step.

What Can We Discuss?

You can discuss a technology problem, concern, decision or opportunity affecting your business.
That could involve software delivery, development teams, suppliers, technology costs, strategy, technology leadership, risk, AI, an important technology investment or simply something that does not feel right.
You do not need to diagnose the problem first.

Do I Need To Know Which Consulting Service I Need?

No.
Tell me what is happening and what you are trying to achieve.
I can help determine whether I can assist and which type of engagement, if any, would make sense.

How Long Is The Consultation?

The free technology consultation is 30 minutes.
That gives us enough time to discuss what is happening, why it matters to your business and what you are trying to achieve.
If I believe I can help, I will explain what I think the appropriate next step would be. There is no obligation to proceed with a paid engagement.

Do I have to use Calendly?

No. Calendly is the easiest option, but you can also contact me directly to arrange a time.

What Happens After The Consultation?

If I believe I can help, I will explain what I think the appropriate next step is.
Depending on the situation, that might involve further investigation, a defined review, a consulting engagement or ongoing technology leadership.
There is no obligation to proceed.

Is There Any Obligation To Work With You Afterwards?

No.
The consultation is an opportunity for us to understand the situation and determine whether working together makes sense.

Ready To Talk About Your Technology?

You do not need to know which service you need.
